Dr. Haresh D. Shah

Dr. Haresh Shah is a Jamaica and Glen Oaks dentist with more than 32 years of private practice experience. He completed his dental education at New York University College of Dentistry in 1980, when he graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery. He then took up an internship studying oral surgery, and has since studied multiple specialties with only the highest qualified professionals. He is continuously furthering his education with courses in dental implants, cancer screenings, prosthetics, infection control, porcelain veneers and oral surgery.

Dr. Shah is a member in good standing of the American Dental Association and the Indian Dental Association, USA. He also serves as a board member of the Advisory Committee and the New York ambassador member for NOVA Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr. Shah also spent time overseas teaching oral hygiene and basic dental care to underserved populations.

With more than three decades of first-hand care experience, Dr. Shah understands the needs and concerns of his patients. He believes in the highest quality dentistry delivered in a comforting and caring manner.

When he isn’t in the office, Dr. Shah can be found volunteering for community service or spending time with his wife and three sons.

Dr. David Heering

After graduating from Rutgers University, Dr. Heering earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine at Tufts University School of Dental medicine. He completed his advanced specialty education in Periodontics at Boston University. Dr. Heering is a staff periodontist at Hamilton Hospital. He is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Periodontics, New Jersey Society of Periodontists and the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation. Keeping pace with the latest advancements in periodontics is a high priority for Dr. Heering. This is reflected in the more than 50 hours of professional courses in periodontal care and implant technology which he pursues yearly. His implant experience makes him one of the top surgeons in all of New York City with well over 10,000 implants surgically placed.

On the subject of making his patients feel at ease, Dr. Heering asserts, “It goes without saying that very few people like going to the dentist. Getting dental care that may involve surgery takes even more fortitude. That’s why I do what it takes for my patients to make sure that they’re as comfortable as possible every time I see them.”

Dr. Kavi H. Shah

Dr. Kavi Shah is an Implant dentist who specializes in Full Mouth Implant Reconstruction and Cosmetic Smile Restructuring for patients in need of transformation. He received his initial training at the College of Dental Medicine of Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He then undertook a residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at Nova Southeastern University in Miami, Florida where he also worked with patients with physical and mental handicaps in a Special Needs clinic. He has been trained in nitrous oxide and oral sedation dentistry and enjoys working with the dentally anxious patient.

“The dental chair is not a fun place for most people, and everything I do is designed to make patients as confident as possible that they will be okay. I focused my residency on sedation, implant surgery & implant restorations, along with complex esthetic and prosthodontics so that I could live up to this vision. I want to strive to make sure every full mouth rehabilitation we complete is of the highest quality"

In addition, Dr. Kavi has completed numerous additional residencies and coursework in Implantology and Oral Surgery. This involves being a leader at literature review groups and study clubs. By taking an active role in the American Dental Association, The Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Dr. Shah stays involved in today’s proven improvements to bring to his patient care.

Taking a conservative approach, he prides himself on making sure you receive only the treatment that you need and believes in treating each patient like a member of his family.

Dr. Catherine Woo

Dr. Woo is a Board Certified Orthodontist -- making her one of only a third of Orthodontists to receive this distinction. This additional certification, along with her extensive experience treating complex and surgical Invisalign and Orthodontic cases, ensures that she will be able to handle any of your concerns.

Dr. Woo earned her bachelor’s, master’s, and dental degrees from prestigious Columbia University. While at Columbia she was selected as one of 7 residents out of hundreds of applicants to the prestigious three year orthodontics program at Columbia University. She was trained in conventional straight wire, Invisalign, Damon, temporary anchorage devices (TADs), and multi-disciplinary techniques, among others. She has successfully treated a great variety of difficult cases, including severe open bites, crossbites, overbites, underbites, and surgical cases.

Dr. Woo, Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, (the only orthodontic specialty board recognized by the American Dental Association and sponsored by the American Association of Orthodontists), is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, American Dental Association, North Eastern Society of Orthodontics, and the Bronx County Dental Society. In her spare time, she loves to discover new restaurants, enjoys a good outdoor workout, and cooking up a good meal with friends and family.

Dr. Woo was raised in the suburbs of New Jersey and Taipei, Taiwan but moved to New York City for higher education. Consequently, Dr. Woo has always enjoyed diverse cultures and integrating with new people. This enjoyment translates everyday for the unique opportunities her patients present and allows her to find individualized and creative ways to help her patients achieve their goals in the most efficient and comfortable ways.

She loves making new connections with her patients and their families and loves being an orthodontist. Her approach prioritizes patient care and successful long-term outcomes in a friendly and fun environment.

Dr. Gargi Gajera

Dr. Gajera is one of those doctors every patient loves. She is always in a good mood, always positive, and even when working on a scared, little child, knows how to make the patient feel that they are in good hands. Her patients all leave with big smiles and a renewed sense of well-being.

A true Southerner, Dr. Gajera attended Emory University before attending dental school in Florida at Nova Southeastern University.

Prior to joining private practice, Dr. Gajera completed a residency focused on general dentistry, implant placement and oral surgery at Winthrop University Hospital on Long Island.

Her extensive experience in dealing with patients requiring extensive dental reconstruction has given her a natural empathy and the communication skills required for a great chair side manner. Her patients benefit from her extensive knowledge in thorough and relaxed consultations where again and again patients state, "No doctor has ever spoken to me this way nor been so thorough in their evaluation."

Dr. Gajera is a member in good standing with the New York Dental Association, American Dental Association, and Queens Dental Society, Nassau County Dental Society and continues her training by attending many top NYC study clubs and continuing education courses.

Referring to her patients Dr. Gajera says, "I strive to make going to the dentist a 'fun experience' especially for our younger patients, so that they enjoy an experience that is best kept as a life-long habit."

Marcela Canola, RDH

Marcela has been a member of Glen Oaks Dental Professionals since 2014 as a lead assistant. While on staff full time Marcela pursued her dental hygiene degree from one of the best-qualified hygiene programs at the New York College of Technology. Always skilled in working with patients, her training only improved her ability to manage patient conditions and have a unique perspective on providing patient education. Marcela's skill and experience has allowed her to earn the trust of many patients in understanding their susceptibility to disease and how to focus on prevention of further dental treatment.

Marcela has also spent considerable hours working in cosmetic dentistry and can give honest feedback to patients regarding cosmetic reconstruction and invisalign.
